What Granola is

Granola calls itself "the AI notepad for back-to-back meetings." You jot rough notes during a call while it transcribes your computer's audio in the background, and afterwards it merges both into enhanced notes with action items. It never joins the meeting as a bot. It works with Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Slack huddles and other apps; desktop apps run on macOS and Windows, and the iOS and Android apps handle in-person meetings. Around the notes sit AI chat across all your meetings, templates, and Recipes, which are saved prompts you run with one click, plus a connector that lets apps like Claude read your notes.

What Fyxer is

Fyxer now pitches itself as an assistant that "sits across everything," but its core is the inbox: it labels incoming mail and writes first drafts that learn your writing style. Around that sit a meeting notetaker, an agenda sent an hour before each call, a scheduling assistant, a daily briefing, shared Spaces for teams and clients, and an @Fyxer mention in Slack. It supports Gmail and Outlook only, and its help center says IMAP-only accounts are not supported.

The notetaker has two modes. Visible mode joins Zoom, Meet or Teams as a bot, while the desktop app for Mac and Windows records your computer audio with no bot in the attendee list. Either way you get a transcript, a structured summary emailed to you, and action items that feed Fyxer's follow-up drafts.

The core difference: notes-first vs inbox-first

Feature lists blur together, so ask which part of your day each tool is built around. Granola's center is the meeting: the notes are the product, and email is just one place they can go. Fyxer's center is the inbox, and notes matter because they improve the next email. If the hard part of your day is remembering what was said on calls, Granola fits. If it is the pile of email waiting after those calls, Fyxer fits.

Meeting notes: bot vs no bot

Granola wins here for most people, thanks to design rather than raw accuracy. Recording from your device means no bot arrives, your own typed notes stay the anchor, and Granola says it does not store meeting audio at all. Fyxer has narrowed the gap with a desktop app, introduced in May 2026, for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 13 or later and for Windows 10 or later, though only one mode can be active at a time. Fyxer's Free plan records audio only, while Pro adds video and follow-up drafts.

Fyxer's real edge is the hand-off, because its notes flow straight into inbox drafts. Granola's Business plan adds follow-up emails too, but you still send them from your own mail app.

Email: where Fyxer pulls ahead

This one is not close. Granola does not read your inbox, label mail or draft replies, and it is not trying to. Fyxer's paid plans do all three, which explains most of the price gap, although its Free plan leaves out inbox sorting. For more inbox-first options, see our ranking of Fyxer AI alternatives.

Granola vs Fyxer pricing (as of October 2026)

Granola lists three plans, priced per user per month. Basic is free with unlimited notes but only 30 days of history. Business, at $14, adds unlimited history, integrations such as Slack, Notion, Zapier and HubSpot, pre-meeting briefs and follow-up emails. Enterprise, at $35, adds SSO, admin controls and usage analytics.

Fyxer lists four. Free includes 400 credits a month, a daily briefing and audio-only notes, but no inbox sorting. Pro is $37 per user per month billed annually or $49 monthly, and Team is $64 or $99 with shared context and team reporting. Enterprise is custom. Sign-up starts a 14-day Team trial, and new accounts get unlimited credits for three months as a launch offer. In short, Fyxer Pro costs 2.6 to 3.5 times as much as Granola Business, and the inbox features account for most of that difference.

One tool or a stack? What the combinations cost

Many teams never pick just one. They pair a notetaker with a chat assistant or a docs tool. Here is what common pairings cost per user per month at list prices as of October 2026.

Granola Business alone$14–✓1
Fyxer Pro alone$37 to $49✓✓1

Rough list prices before taxes and discounts: Notion Business $20 billed yearly, Fireflies Pro $10 billed annually, ChatGPT Business $20 billed annually or $25 monthly, Granola Business $14. Credits and usage caps can change the real total.

Fyxer vs Notion AI + Fireflies

The pair is cheaper, at about $30 against $37 for Fyxer Pro billed annually. Notion Business now includes Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search, and Fireflies' bot, Fred, joins calls to transcribe them. Since Notion Business already takes meeting notes, many teams could drop Fireflies and pay $20. What neither vendor lists is Fyxer's main job: sorting Gmail or Outlook and drafting replies there. It works for Notion-centric teams with light email and fits poorly when email is heavy.

Fyxer vs ChatGPT Business + a separate notetaker

ChatGPT Business costs $20 per user per month billed annually or $25 monthly, with a two-seat minimum. It includes ChatGPT Record, which transcribes and summarizes meetings, but OpenAI says it runs only in the macOS app and auto-joins Google Meet links only. Windows users, or anyone who wants notes on a phone, will add a notetaker such as Granola, for $34 to $39 in total. ChatGPT is a strong assistant for research and writing, yet OpenAI's plan description does not list inbox labeling, so you still have to bring each email to it.

Granola + Fyxer together

Running both costs $51 to $63 and means paying for two notetakers, since Fyxer Pro includes its own. It works, but your notes and your email live in separate apps, and you become the bridge between them.

Best tool for summarizing a meeting to send to a colleague for sign-off

Granola is the most direct. After the call you can copy a link that shows only the summarized notes, not the transcript, and limit it to your company or open it to anyone. You can also open a pre-filled draft in Gmail or Outlook, or send the notes to Slack or Notion, and sharing does not use a paid seat.

Fyxer emails the structured summary to you and uses it as context for a follow-up draft, which is handy when sign-off happens by email.

Usenti writes a summary with decisions and action items, turns the action items into suggested to-dos you approve with one tap, and drafts the reply in your tone. For more on that step, see how AI task extraction works.

Privacy and security

Granola documents the most. Its security page says independent auditors confirmed its practices meet SOC 2 Type 2 standards, that it does not store meeting audio, and that notes are encrypted and hosted in a US-based AWS private cloud. Third-party AI providers may not train on your data, but Granola itself trains on anonymized data unless you opt out, a setting that is off by default on Enterprise. Fyxer's homepage shows SOC, HIPAA, ISO 27001, GDPR and CASA badges; we found no fuller write-up to cite, so check its trust materials directly.

Usenti's notetaker posts a notice in the meeting chat, deletes the recording once it is transcribed and runs in the EU (Frankfurt) by default, and Usenti does not train AI models on your email or meetings. To be plain, it does not yet hold an external certification such as SOC 2.

Where Usenti fits

Usenti is for people who looked at the stack table and did not want three apps. It connects Gmail, Outlook / Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail, AWS WorkMail or any IMAP inbox, plus Slack. Mail is sorted as it arrives into categories such as To Respond, Awaiting Reply and FYI, with labels mirrored back to Gmail and Outlook, and drafts match your tone, adapt to each contact and reply in the sender's language. The notetaker joins Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Slack huddles and returns decisions and action items. A unified calendar merges Google, Outlook, Apple / CalDAV and iCal, and Donna, the built-in assistant, turns your calendar, unanswered email and suggested to-dos into a daily brief. It costs $45 per month after a 14-day trial for a one-time $1.

It is not for everyone. Granola is cheaper if you only need notes, records with no bot, and has an external audit that Usenti does not yet have.

Where we stand: Usenti publishes this comparison. We have tried to credit Granola's botless notes and SOC 2 Type 2 audit and Fyxer's two notetaker modes, and to be clear where Usenti falls short. Prices change often, so confirm them on each vendor's own site.

Which should you pick?

  • Granola if you live in meetings, want no bot in the room, and handle email fine on your own.
  • Fyxer if you are on Gmail or Outlook and the inbox is what keeps you behind, with notes as a bonus.
  • A stack if you already pay for Notion or ChatGPT and your email load is light.
  • Usenti if you want inbox, notes and calendar in one app, need a provider beyond Gmail and Outlook, or would rather not be the bridge between tools.

Frequently asked questions

Is Granola or Fyxer better for meeting notes?

Granola, if notes are the main job. It transcribes from your computer audio without a bot, merges the transcript with the notes you type, and adds AI chat across all your meetings plus reusable prompts called Recipes. Fyxer's notetaker, which offers a bot mode and a botless desktop mode, mainly exists to feed its email drafts.

Does Granola join meetings as a bot?

No. Granola records your computer audio, so no bot appears in the participant list, and it says it does not store meeting audio, only the transcript and your notes. It works with Zoom, Google Meet, Teams and other meeting apps, and its iOS and Android apps cover in-person meetings.

Does Fyxer work with Outlook or other email providers?

Fyxer supports Gmail (Google Workspace) and Outlook (Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online), and its help center says IMAP-only accounts are not supported. Granola is not an inbox at all. Usenti connects Zoho Mail, AWS WorkMail and any IMAP inbox alongside Gmail and Outlook.

How much do Granola and Fyxer cost in 2026?

As of October 2026, Granola is free with 30 days of meeting history, $14 per user per month for Business and $35 for Enterprise. Fyxer has a Free plan without inbox sorting, Pro at $37 per user per month billed annually or $49 monthly, Team at $64 or $99, and custom Enterprise pricing.

Is Fyxer cheaper than Notion AI plus Fireflies?

No. As of October 2026, Notion Business, which includes Notion AI and AI Meeting Notes, is $20 per member per month billed yearly and Fireflies Pro is $10 per seat billed annually, about $30 together, against $37 for Fyxer Pro. But neither Notion nor Fireflies lists inbox sorting or reply drafting, which is Fyxer's main job.

Should I use Fyxer or ChatGPT Business plus a separate notetaker?

ChatGPT Business costs $20 per user per month billed annually or $25 monthly, so adding Granola Business brings the pair to $34 to $39. Its built-in ChatGPT Record runs only in the macOS app, and OpenAI's plan description does not list inbox labeling. If you want mail triaged and replies drafted without asking, Fyxer Pro is the closer fit.

What is the best AI tool for summarizing a meeting to send to a colleague for sign-off?

Granola is the most direct: share a link that shows only the summarized notes, or open a pre-filled draft in Gmail or Outlook. Fyxer emails the summary to you and uses it as context for follow-up drafts. Usenti writes a summary with decisions and action items and drafts the reply in your tone in the same inbox.

Where does Usenti fit between Granola and Fyxer?

Usenti puts the inbox, meeting notes and calendar in one app for $45 per month after a 14-day trial for a one-time $1. It sorts mail, drafts replies adapted to each contact, joins calls as a clearly named bot, merges your calendars, and has Donna brief your day. Pick Granola instead if you want botless notes only.
